Bruce Li's character is noble but dark. He has a mean streak. He is very intense and serious about bringing the bandit criminals to justice dead or alive!!In this movie, Li plays a police chief who must lead his inept department of not so good kung fu fighters against some highly skilled bad guys. One unique scene features a man standing on another man's shoulders and fighting together as one person against Bruce Li! That sounds different because it is the first time I have seen a fight scene choreographed this way. Because of Ho Chung Tao (Bruce Li) and the unique fight scenes that you must see to believe, I give this movie a 5 star rating. Another amazing action movie from the legendary Ho Chung Tao!! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Dexter A Jones (dexter.jones@usa.net) (Hampton Virginia) - See all my reviews This review is from: Deadly Strike [VHS] (VHS Tape) This is really a pretty good movie.Bruce Li really was good in this one.He is a little sloppy but he gets better as the movie goes along. There are some really funny scenes in which Bruce fights some midgets. It's so funny that a friend and I rewind it just to laugh. If you are a true martial artist you will see that there are some really big differences between this movie and ones that Li has done before this one.For one , he isn't really acting like Bruce Lee.That is when he really does his best movies.I like him as himself and I sure that you will too. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Deadly Strike (DVD) Truly as a sparkling young boy in the 90s, I somehow possessed the VHS that was packaged by Goodtimes; I found out recently that my mom probably threw it away (FFFUUU---). That version is also listed on Amazon simply as "Deadly Strike" with a blue cover, red and blue lettering you'd think was the rough draft font for Top Gun, an imitation Bruce that isn't even a character in the movie, and the erroneous "Le" surname instead of Li (it's a stage name, but incorrect nonetheless). I will be buying that (superior) version as soon as I find a suitable & inexpensive VHS-to-DVD/digital conversion solution.I am a borderline cult follower. I'm not a movie buff or great enthusiast for the martial arts genre but I have this deep awe left over from my childhood for this particular film. You must know 1 thing: I had not seen or heard of The Original or "Bruceploitation" prior to viewing---and for a few years after. Ironically, during the same elementary to middle school years that I was... Read more |
