The soft leather or leather like material is soft but durable. There is ample room for your passport, of course as well as cash and either credit cards or business cards. It will easily fit in either a back pocket which I wouldn't recommend, a cargo pants pocket, jacket pocket or one of the many pockets on my travel vest. I highly recommend this wallet. I dislike this wallet because it has no where to put your money. The bills are to long to fit in the wallet. You end up having to fold the bills in half and that makes it to bulky to close correctly. I would love this wallet more if it was a checkbook style. My cards keep falling out of the wallet when I open it as well.
